- Jumped organized baseball on May 23, 1946 to the Mexican League.
- Was reinsted to organized baseball on June 6, 1949 and rejoined the Saint Louis Cardinals.

- During the war he was a radarman with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific participating in nine major battles.
