He won the championship for his high school by stealing second, third and home after being purposely passed. He is a service station owner during the off-season. His hobbies are drawing and hunting. He served 33 months in the U. S. Army Air Corps. His ambition in baseball is to make it a lifetime career. His most interesting experiences were playing in a World Series in 1939 and getting 5 for 5 on opening day in 1936. He hit in 43 consecutive games in 1934 with Portland.
