The lineup of clubs in the league was still uncertain as of mid-January. From the 1930 lineup, Shawnee's status was uncertain, and indeed that city did not field a team in 1931. At a meeting on January 20 in Joplin convened by league President Dale Gear, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, represented by J. H. Tucker, expressed interest in participating. At that same meeting, it was indicated that all clubs would have the ability to play night games, under the encouragement of President Gear.[1]
