  • The Midwest League played a 130 game, two-division, split-season schedule which began on April 17 and ended on August 26. The first half ended on June 20.
  • An All-Star Game was played on July 12 between a Midwest League All-Star team and the American Association's Iowa Oaks; the Oaks won by a 5-3 score[1].
  • A two-tier championship playoff was held after the season. The best-of-three championship round was won by Waterloo.
  • Total 1976 attendance: 541,126.
