- The Midwest League played a 140 game, two-division, split-season schedule which began on April 6 and ended on September 4. The first half ended on June 18.
- An All-Star Game was played on June 20 between All-Star Teams representing the league's Eastern and Western divisions (Kane County was counted as an Eastern team). The East won by a 7-1 score.
- A three-tier championship playoff was held after the season, with the championship won by to West Michigan.
- Total 2006 attendance: 3,298,095.
