Del Bissonette was a professional player and manager.

Pitched for New Hampshire State College and Georgetown University. Del started his professional career in the Eastern Canadian League in 1922. From 1924 to 1927 he played for several minor league teams before reaching the majors with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1928. In 1932 during spring training he severed his Achilles tendon missing the entire season. During his career not only injured his Achilles tendon he had arm surgery,mastoid operation and numerous sinus operations. In returned in 1933 but only was able to play 35 games. Back to the minors an played for Baltimore, Albany and Montreal. Then managed Des Moines in the Western League in 1937. He continued in the minors as a player or manager until 1945 when the Boston Braves signed him as a coach. In 1946 he managed the Boston Braves from 7/31/46 until the end of the season. Pittsburgh signed him as a coach in 1947. In 1948 he managed Portland of the New England League then in 1949 Toronto of the International League.

Beset by unusual injuries and illness throughout his career taking them in stride until he neared his 73rd birthday he shot himself and died several days later.
