• Resided in San Diego, California in 1952 and 1955.
• Married with one son in 1955.
• Self-identified as being of Irish-German ancestry.
• Listed hobbies as golf and hunting in 1952, golf in 1955.
• Got two for three and drove in all the runs in a 3-0 contest in his first pro game with Pocatello of the Pioneer League in 1942.
• Often referred to as Joe Brovia's legs as he has been iserted into the Portland Beaver's lineup in the late innings as a defensive move; most of his 122 games in 1950 were of that nature.
