• Resided in Altadena, California in 1952 and 1953.
• Self-identified as being of Irish ancestry.
• Winning the pennant at Los Angeles in the playoff game and going to the big leagues were his biggest thrills.
• Managed Duluth of the 1942 Northern League at the age of 22 that made him the youngest manager in organized baseball that year.
