  • Played basketball in high school. Graduated Western Michigan University where he played baseball and was captain his senior year. Was second team All-American as a junior and first team All-American his senior year. WMU was Mid-American Conference champs in 1959 and fifth in the NCAA in 1961[1].
  • Signed for the Minnesota Twins by Richard Wiencek[1].
