B.S. in Business Administration. Played American Legion ball. Played varsity football and baseball at Tennessee (batted .311 with 7 HRs). Named to Tennessee "All-Century Team" at catcher. Signed to first contract by Cal Ermer, Baltimore Orioles. Hit five home runs in five days at Bluefield 1963.
