George came from Turbeville,SC a town established by his ancestors who migrated from France to South Carolina early in the 18th century. Though ambidextrous he pitched lefthanded. His failure in the majors was linked to his wildness, he walked 157 batters and struck out only 47 in 185 innings. In his second major league start he shut out Cleveland for 14-2/3 innings (walking 13) before giving up a two run home run.
