Harry Griffith was a professional player. Griffith died from cancer after an experimental treatment failed. He and 29-year-old Robert F. Allen took part in an experiement where cancerous tissue was removed and exchanged between both patients. It was thought that their immune systems would produce antibodies to fight the transplanted cells.
