- Resided in Bell, California in 1952.
- Resided in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico in 1953.
- Self-identified as being of Swiss-German ancestry.
- Started as a pitcher and won his first game 10-5 with Bartlesville in the 1936 Western Association.
- Switched to the regular playing side because of his good hitting.
- Having 11 putouts in one game as well as two assists in 1939 was his biggest thrill.
- Never noticing a person with an arm in a sling is his superstition.
