Pre-professional career
- Only five sport letter-winner at Illinois State University.
- On one day in 1933, he won his singles and doubles matches in the morning, pitched the baseball team to victory in the afternoon, along with having the winning javelin throw at a track meet between innings.
Outside of baseball
- Played professional basket ball for Hammond, Indiana where Lou Boudreau "heads a club in the National Professional League."[1]
- Coached Illinois State University basketball, 1949-57.[2]
