After his playing career,he worked in the scouting department of the Boston Red Sox (2003-04), as Director of Player Personnel of Colorado Rockies 2005-2005 and the Arizona Diamondbacks (2006-2008). Promoted to VP, Player Personnel in 2009.
On October 29, 2011, a press conference was held announcing that he was named as the General Manager of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He is the 11th GM in franchise history.[1]
