  • Resided in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma in 1952 and 1953.
  • Self-identified as being of Scottish-Irish-German-Indian ancestry.
  • Returned to the Portland Beavers after serving in the Armed Forces in 1952 just prior to the season opener.

  • Attended Fort Gibson, Oklahoma High School.
  • Was captain of the baseball and basketball teams in high school.
  • Played American Legion ball.

  • Caught 38 consecutive games while playing for the Hollywood club in 1948.

  • Was recalled into the service after being in action during World War II.
