Jo-Jo Moore played left field for the New York Giants in the years before World War II.

edit

He was called up from Jersey City in Bill Terry's first player personnel move as the Giants' new manager. Moore helped the Giants to win the 1933 World Series in his first full season with the team. He hit .331 and finished third in the MVP voting the next year. Moore liked to swing at the first pitch he saw; it's said that some opposing managers fined pitchers who started him with a strike. He owned a ranch after his baseball career.
