Pre-professional career

  • Only West Virginia University pitcher to strikeout ore than 300 batters in college career.
  • Struck out 22 batters i a game against Waynesburg in 1964.
  • Pitched a one-hitter against Virginia Military Institute in 1964.
  • Was all-Southern Conference in 1964 and 1965.

Achievements

  • First baseball player from West Virginia University to be selected in the amateur draft, picked in the fifth round of the 1965 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
  • Selected to the West Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.

Other

  • Career cut short by rotator cuff injury.
  • After his baseball career, he taught physical education and biological sciences at Broadway High School in Harrisonburg, Virginia for 39 years.
