John Thornton, the "demon" pitcher of the Milwaukee Base Ball Club, is a young player with a splendid record. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1870, is 5ft. 10 1/2in. high and weighs 170 pounds. He made his initial appearance as a professional player with the Washingtons toward the end of the season of 1889. And his play was simply phenomenal for one of his years. This year he signed with the Milwaukees, of the Western Association, and his grand work in the box for the "Brewers" has caused his name to become a household word throughout the Northwest. [1]
