At the conclusion of the 1952 season while Joe Hornacek was with the Marion (NC) Marauders of the Class D Western Carolina League, a newspaper article stated: "Joe Hornacek will go home to Beaver Falls, Pa. but is undecided about his occupation this winter."[1]
