Was a member of the 1957 New Orleans Babe Ruth League team that played in the Babe Ruth World Series in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In high school, he played baseball and track, In college, he played baseball and golf. Played semi-pro ball with Sturgis in the Basin League. Signed to first contract by Hugh Alexander and Tony John for the Los Angeles Dodgers[1].
