In high school, he lettered in baseball, basketball, football, and track. He led his school to wo state baseball championships (hitting .420 his senior season), and state titles in football and basketball, as well. Was named school's most outstanding athlete. Played American Legion ball. Was signed by Thomas Kain for the Philadelphia Phillies[1].
