  • Resided in Alameda, California in 1953.
  • Got two hits and played errorless ball in his first game as an outfielder.
  • Playing on the 1948 Spokane team when they were 10 games behind the leader on August 17 and driving to the pennant by one-half game on the last day of the season was his biggest thrill; that team won 45 of its last 56 games.
  • Played semipro ball during the winter of 1952.
  • Suffered a head injury when struck by a thrown ball while playing semi-pro ball.

  • Attended Alameda High School.
  • Was on the all-County baseball teams in 1939, 1940 and 1941 in high school.
  • Played two years American Legion ball.

  • Led the 1948 Western International League in sacrifice hits with 28; this was a new league record.
  • Led the 1949 Pacific Coast League in doubles with 43.

  • Served in the U. S. Navy in 1943, 1944 and 1945.
