- National Association President George M. Trautman asked New York City District Attorney Frank S. Hogan for a copy of the statement in which Beard admitted to accepting bribes to shave points during University of Kentucky basketball games during the 1948-49 season. According to the article Beard played for Denver in the Western League and Evansville in the Three-I League during the 1951 season. Mr. Trautman said that Beard's future status in Organized Baseball will be determined following a study of the statements made in his confession.[3]
