  • Signed as a non-drafted free agents by the Tigers on January 24, 1993, by scout Ramon Pena.
  • Selected by the Chicago Cubs from San Diego in the minor league Rule 5 draft on December 14, 1998.

  • Set a Dominican Summer League record in 1994 by stealing 105 bases in 65 games.
  • In 1996, was to Baseball America's Class-A all-star team, and ranked as the best defensive second baseman and best baserunner in the Florida State League.
  • In 1997, was named best defensive second baseman in the Southern League by Baseball America.
