  • In high school, lettered in baseball, football, basketball, and cross country.
  • Compiled a 28-1 record and 0.27 ERA in high school; named to all-Indiana teams as a sophomore, junior, and senior.
  • Pitched team to state title his junior year.
  • Was also all-state in basketball.
  • Played Little League, Pony League, Colt League, and American Legion ball.
