Syl McNinch, Jr. is married and has one daughter, Marilyn Lee who was born on April 12, 1952. He lives in Bakersfield, California per the 1952 California League Gold Book (Fourth Edition). His nationality is Irish-German. He graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1948 and played baseball. He attends the University Of California during the off-season and is in his senior year. He led the C.I.B.A. in hits with 26, doubles with 7 and was second in batting average with .382 in 1951. He was named to the All-American college team in 1951. He played with the Bakersfield Spuds who were the 1949 California semi-pro champions. He played with the Elko Indians who were the 1950 Nevada semi-pro champions.
