VETERAN PITCHER DEAD. Morris A. Critchley, An Old Association Pitcher, Passes Away. Special to Sporting Life." Pittsburgh Pa., March 14.

Morris A.Critchley, diamond star of a generation ago as a pitcher for the old Allegheny team, and recently a hotel keeper, died suddenly on March 7 at his home, 3818 Smallmann street, of heart disease. Critchley in his day was a famous pitcher and made one world's record. He pitched and won five games in one day. He also pitched an 18-inning game against the old Allegheny team when he wore the uniform of Auburn, N. Y. Critchley also played in Rochester, N. Y., and several other places. His last engagement was with the Allegheny (Association) team in 1882. When the season closed he closed his base ball career. He then entered the employ of W. .1. Wright, who conducted a saloon *in Masters way. Later he went with Charles Stevens, in Third avenue. Thirteen years ago Critchley started in business for himself in Sniallman street
