  • Played Little League and American Legion ball.
  • In high school, earned three letters each in baseball, football, and basketball.
  • At Lafayette College, played varsity baseball and football. Batted .290 his senior season.
  • Earned an A.B. in Economics.
  • Played semi-pro ball with Staunton (VA) of the Shenandoah Valley League in 1969 (batted .286).
