Thomas Sommers was a professional player and manager.

- Earned a B.S. in Business Administration at Fresno State, where he played varsity baseball and football.[1]
- Older brother is Fred Sommers[1]
- Played semi-pro ball with the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks, who were state champions and finished second at the National Baseball Congress tournament in Wichita.[1]
- Played in the Mercy Bowl in 1961[1] to raise money for Cal Poly football players and their families after a plane crash.[2]
