The only man to earn both a World Series ring (1983 Baltimore Orioles) and an NCAA national championship (1974 men's basketball at North Carolina State University) ring as an athlete. [1]
Pitching coach at Northwestern University since the 1990s. Among the players he coached are J.A. Happ, George Kontos, Daniel Brauer, and John Seaman.[2]
Was inducted to the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.[3]
Was scheduled to sing the national anthem on August 25, 2005 at Wrigley Field.[4]
