• Was residing in El Monte, California in 1949.
• Brother of Richard Morgan.

• Played in baseball and basketball at El Monte High School, graduated in 1948. Was captain of the baseball team in his senior year. He was picked to represent Los Angeles in the 1948 Hearst Amateur All-Star Game in New York

• Employed as a stocker in a grocery store in the off-season.
