DES MOINES, Io., July 25 - The board of directors of the Des Moines Base Ball club have finally released Manager Bryan, his resignation being tendered to-day at their request. Bryan had a very peculiar contract with the club, one that called for pay for the entire season, whether he continued to manage the club or not. If it had not been for this feature of the deal his resignation would have been called for early in June, when he was summoned home during the absence of the club. Bryan was sent to Omaha last week for the purpose of negotiating for Walsh of that club to play shortstop for Des Moines, and knowing the desire of the directors here to get his resignation and having an opportunity to assume the management of the Omaha club, he accepted the offer, and instead of hiring the man he was sent for, he engaged himself to manage the Omahas. He left the city this afternoon for his new field of operations. Des Moines has secured Morton, of Akron, O., to take his place. Mr. Morton is a brother of the secretary of the Northwestern league and is highly recommended as a manager. Several changes in the club are said to be on the tapis, one of them being the signing of a first-class short stop. What the other changes comtemplated are can only be conjectured, but it is said the foolish business of selling two of the strong players is one of them. [1]

OMAHA, Neb., July 27 - Bryan, late manager of the Des Moines Ball club is in Omaha, not, however, as manager of the Omaha club. He has never been offered the place, and could not secure it if he desired. Manager Philbin has made an acceptable manager, besides Omaha knows too much about Bryan's blow and bluster to place him in charge of the club. [2]
