YORK HARBOR, Maine - William C. Ingham, 90, formerly of Concord, died Friday, June 3, 2011, at Sentry Hill.

Born in Greenfield, Mass., on Jan. 9, 1921, he was the son of Harold W. and Armine Morton Ingham.

He grew up in East Concord and graduated from Concord High School. He attended Duke University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire after military service.

His entire business career was in Concord. He was a former vice president of United Life and Accident Insurance Co. and former vice president and a director of Concord General Life Insurance Co.

He played varsity baseball at Duke University, and he also played professional baseball for Raleigh in the Carolina League and in Hartford in the Eastern League.

He was a member of Horace Chase Masonic Lodge in Penacook and was a charter member of William Pitt Lodge in Portsmouth and York Rite and Scottish Rite Masonic bodies.

He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Bernice Stammers Ingham.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Ingham of Kittery, Maine, and Jane M. Johnson of Dalton, Mass.; and a son, William C. Ingham Jr. of East Concord. He has a grandson, Matthew H. Johnson, and a granddaughter, Sage I. Wisinski.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
