DULUTH, Minn., Aug 18 - Ata late hour this evening the directors of the Duluth ball team held a meeting and accepted the resignation of Manager Lucas and put Quinn in his place. The management have no fault to find with Lucas, but the public seem to lay the many defeats of the club to his mismanagement and have dropped off in patronage. The change will save $260 a month in expenses, and it is believed will largely increase the receipts at the home games. United efforts will be made to have Lucas appointed as league umpire. Nearly $1,200 was raised today by popular subscription to defray the losses sustained by the club directors. The meeting was very enthusiastic and plans were discussed for next year's club. The directors extended a vote of thanks to Lucas. [1]
