"There was "a Panamanian baseball tradition that has deep roots and conciderable boasting points. In the late 1940's, the country featured a strong winter league affiliated with organized baseball. Panama's winter pro circuit was launched in 1946."

Note: it seems likely that the game was played locally before the winter league materialized.
