Transcription: A Challenge. Fort Boise, I. T., May 16, 1878. The base ball nine of Co."G," 1st Cavalry, hereby challenge any nine in the city or Territory, to a game of base ball at Boise City, I. T., on the 23rd inst., for general amusement. Send communications to Captain, base ball club, Co. "G," 1st Cavalry, Fort Boise, I. T.
There is not, we believe, any other base ball club in Boise City to accept the above challenge and clubs of other portions of the Territory could hardly reach here byh the 23rd. We would, however, be pleased to see the "Boys in Blue" play an exhibitiongame on the day mentioned. ED.
Historical note: Please note there were at least two other clubs in 1868 and 1869. According to the editors of the Idaho Statesman, however, there is 'no other base ball club in Boise City' by 1878.
