Winnipeg Free Press, July 23, 1874: "The U.S.A. Base Ball Club at Fort Pembina, D.T. [Dakota Territory] have signified their willingness to let the Garry Club [of Winnipeg] beat them." Fort Pembina is just south of modern day Pembina, ND, near the border with Canada.
