The Jacksonville "New South" Aug. 5, 1874: headline "Base Ball at Lake City". Some memebers of the R. E. Lee BBC of Jacksonville are going to Lake City to watch a game between the DeSoto's and the Garden City's. The latter appear to be a Tallahassee team. Same issue has the Fat Men's BBC of Lake City challenging the "Fats" of Jacksonville Same, Aug. 12, 1874: "A state base ball organization was formed in Lake City last week."
