"The neighboring town of Dayton, Kentucky, deserves whatever of credit is due to our efforts in starting base ball. That small town had a club, and feeling that their practice, indulged for several years, would enable them to gain celebrity at a small risk, published a challenge in 1859, to any club within a hundred miles."
Dayton KY is across the Ohio River from Cincinnati.
