The Santa Fe Daily New Mexican June 2, 1876, reports on a base ball game June 1 between the "Collegians" of St. Michael's College, and the "Union" BBC, both of Santa Fe, for 9 innings, at "the playground west of the Capitol Building."

Santa Fe's population in 1870 was about 4800. It was about 6600 in 1880.
