"Quite an interesting though poorly played game of base ball came off at the Fair Grounds", between Denison and Sherman. Denison got a little the best of it, though the Shermans had never practiced and were not organized. This was the first base ball game in this section. The material at both points is excellent. There are a number of Northern playhers in these parts. They promise to worry the Galveston clubs soon."
Denison TX (2000 population about 28,000)is about 10 miles NE of Sherman TX (2000 pop. about 35,000), about 75 miles N of Dallas, and a few miles from the Oklahoma border.
