The New Orleans Times-Picayune, May 24, 1870, says a match was played at Ponchatoula, on May 22, between the Beauregard and the Louisiana base ball clubs.
Ponchatoula LA (pop. about 5000)is about 40 miles NW of New Orleans. It was established as a logging camp in 1820 and incorporated in 1861.
