Little Rock Daily Republican, August 8, 1873, reported that “last Saturday” a boy in Helena was killed in a “game of baseball.” The Little Rock Daily Arkansas Gazette, August 12, 1875, reported that there was “not a base-ball club in Helena,” but same July 2, 1876 reported “The people of Helena are growing wild and enthusiastic upon the subject of base ball.”
