Peter Morris et al., editors, "Base Ball Pioneers, 1850-1870" has a section on the early Bridgeport teams. It mentions 1865 Bridgeport teams named the American BBC, Stars BBC, Excelsior BBC, and the Business College BBC. The first and fourth played match games that year. Through 1866 some 26 local area teams are mentioned in the newspapers.
Bridgeport CT (1860 pop. 6,000; 1870 pop. about 12,000) is about 15 miles SW of New Haven on Long Island Sound.
