Tom Mazarakis's 27-page The History of Baseball in Greece offers a comprehensive account of the sparse early days. American military personnel at the U.S. Air Force base at Hellenikon, near Glyfadas, played on two softball fields for years before Greeks started competing in the early 1970s . . . . By 1972 four Little League teams were playing on the two baseball fields."
