The Freeport (IL) North West Oct. 5, 1865, reports on a base ball tournament in Dubuque, hosted by the local Julian team. Same July 12, 1866 notes that the Julians of Dubuque played in a multi-state tournament in Rockford.
Dubuque IA (1860 pop. 13,000; 1870 pop. about 18,500) is about 75 miles NE of Cedar Rapids on the Mississippi River.
