The LaFayette Gazette Sept. 23, 1893: "Base Ball. The Lafayette Favorite is the name of a base-ball club recently organized in Lafayette...."
It is to play the Stonewalls of Pillette "tomorrow evening."
Same May 20, 1893, headlined "The Base Ball Game" explains that the businessmen of LaFayette have challenged the lawyers to a base ball game. Article gives the names of the players on both teams.
LaFayette LA (1890 pop. about 2,100) is about 50 miles W of Baton Rouge.
