The Boston Herald, Aug. 27, 1866 reports that the Winthrop of Boston beat the Rough & Ready of Walpole 83 to 21 on the Common, Sunday, Aug. 26th.
Walpole MA (1870 pop. about 2,100) is about 20 miles SW of Boston.
