Founding date is from a book published in Minnesota in 1890. The club had a number of games covered in the St. Paul newspapers in 1859. The first captain was Samuel Pierce Jennison, later a brevet brigadier general in the Union Army.

The full citation from the 1890 History of St. Paul by Andrews is..

"In December the first base-ball club was organized. It was called the Olympic; S.P. Jennison, captain, R.C. Munger, treasurer. About the same time a German Turner's Society was organized in Irvine's Hall."
